Which is the best medication for acid reflex? over the counter and prescribed ? what else could be done to prevent it beside medication?

Suggestions:: 1. Lifestyle changes: smaller meals. Less large meals (buffets, eg), alcohol and caffeine and spicy foods. Don't eat right before bed time. 2. Medicines: h2 blockers work fairly well (ranitidine, famotidine). Ppis are a little better (omeprazole and esomeprazole). All are available as otcs. Presctiption drugs are good too..

Try OTC: Prilosec and Prevacid (lansoprazole) are both available otc, and work well. If they do not, see your doctor.
