Too much stretching: Muscles of the jaws and face are much smaller and are involved in intricate functions including expressions, swallowing and chewing. Although stretching is usually good for muscles, its easy to strain the muscles of the face and jaws. Try taking a tylenol (acetaminophen) or advil and do warm compresses over the painful muscles.

Unknown: I would not expect a patient to experience extreme pain from a facial message. If it does not go away within a day or two, i would call the therapist who treated you. That person should refer you to a doctor.
