How would you know if your child is having petit mal seizures?

EEG: The brief pauses in activity seen in kids with petit mall will often go un-noticed for some tome. An electroencephalogram (eeg) study will show a characteristic pattern in kids with the problem.

Need EEG: Staring is common in children. The way to diagnose petit mal epilepsy is a sleep deprived EEG with hyperventilation. Seizures can be brought out with drowsiness and hyperventilation is a common trigger for petit mal seizures. The EEG will record any electrical abnormalities that may occur.
