Severe hip pain: Get it checked with an orthopedic surgeon. Make sure there is no fracture it may be injury, overuse, arthritis, referred from spinal disc/spur problems, avn, etc. Agree with imaging and good physical exam, give good history.

Identify problem 1st: If you are experiencing hip pain, the first step is to identify the cause of the hip pain. An evaluation with your primary care physician or an orthopaedic surgeon, with xrays of your hip, should be considered. Depending on the cause, the pain can be treated a number of different ways, including medications, physical therapy, injections, and occasionally surgery.
