What to do for severe hip pain?

Severe hip pain: Get it checked with an orthopedic surgeon. Make sure there is no fracture it may be injury, overuse, arthritis, referred from spinal disc/spur problems, avn, etc. Agree with imaging and good physical exam, give good history.

An evaluation with your primary care physician or an orthopaedic surgeon, with xrays of your hip, should be considered. Depending on the cause, the pain can be treated a number of different ways, including medications, physical therapy, injections, and occasionally surgery.
