Dermatomyositis: You have a rare disease. You should be under the care of a rheumatologist with experience treating this disease. Dermatomyositis often has long periods of remission and can usually be controlled when active. Working with your doctor is the most important step in living with this disease. It will require medication to treat when active and physical therapy to help with weakness when controlled.
