Ruptured a disk?: Sharp pain from any cause will make your BP rise and that's perfectly normal. A sharp pain in your buttock following a paroxysm of intense coughing suggests that you may have ruptured an intervertebral disk with referred pain. You may need physical therapy and analgesics - see your doctor if the pain is persistent.
