They should also inform you on where the procedure is done, since many of the "laser" procedures are done in various type of treatment facilities. If done in an outpatient setting, verify that the surgeon has admitting privileges at a nearby hospital in case overnight care is required.

Depends: If it is done as a minimally invasive procedure it should be same day surgery. The limitations should be discussed with your surgeon as this is dependent on your diagnosis, age, health and conditioning as well as the extent and outcome of your surgery.

It varies: The laser is a tool used in spinal surgery, but does not describe the complete surgery itself. Some lasers are used in percutaneous and endoscopic surgeries and these are pretty exclusively done as outpatient. Lasers are sometimes used in much larger surgeries that may require hospitalization.
