Various meanings: I'm not sure what your wife means, exactly, by not feeling anything. Does she mean she has numbness or anesthesia of her vagina and pelvic areas? Or does she perhaps mean that she experiences no sexual desire, excitement, or release with intercourse? If she's concerned about these things, visiting her obgyn physician may be helpful.

Many causes: I agree with dr. Pappas' answer. At 56, your wife may be experiencing a variety of menopause related changes that effect not only her emotional state but also the physical state of her vagina with decreased moisture/lubrication and thickening that may impair her physcial sensitivity. Libido is another issue. Vaginal laxity is yet a different topic. Her gynecologist is a good starting point.
