Muscular: Usually pain in the back of the knee in a young patient is either muscular or related to a tendon inflammation if it is relatively mild, you can do activities as tolerated. If it prevent you from doing activities you should get checked to make sure you don't have any internal derangment in the knee which could be causing the pain.
