Depends: Dandruff, in and of itself is not a bad thing, lots people have it. However, it is unsightly and can lead to itching along with the scale and flaking. Treatment can reduce all these symptoms. For most people the problem isn't something that can be cured, but it can be controlled. Not sure if that answers your question.
