Get another opinion: You can always get another local physician to get a second opinion. Personally I have never induced at 39 weeks because the "baby has not dropped yet".

Yes: It's not a medical indication for induction. There is no risk to you or your baby b/c it hasn't dropped yet. This (a 39 week induction without any other complications like hypertension, gestational diabetes, etc) would be categorized as an elective induction. Unless there is something else going on: say you are 5 cm dilated, and baby not engaged, and if ur water broke, a cord could prolapse.
