How can you tell if you scratched your cornea?

Very painful!: The cornea has a very high concentration of nerve endings so even a small scratch will be very painful. The eye will be irritated, watery, red and light sensitive. It will feel better when the eye is closed. However, the pain fibers may be damaged in some people who have diabetes or herpes infections making the cornea relatively insensitive - initial symptoms may be minimal.

SCRATCHED CORNEA: An ophthalmologist (an md who takes care of eye problems) will know. Do see one soon. Best luck.
