A member asked:

What is addison disease in dogs and can it affect humans?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Adrenal insufficency: Adrenal insufficiency in dogs is not contageous to humans. When a dog's adrenal cortex doesn't work, the dog makes less cortisol. In humans, adrenal insufficiency isn't particularly common and is usually the result of autoimmune disease in this country. The result is also low cortisol. If your pet has adrenal insufficiency, you don't need to worry about contracting it from your dog.
