What is reactive attachment disorder & detachment issues?

Disturbance in...: Early attachments, often because of abuse or neglect, that interfere with a child's ability to bond to or respond appropriately to others. Considered a serious disorder. There may be disturbances in eating and failure to gain weight. Without intervention early on, the disorder can become relatively permanent and interfere with the ability to relate to others later on.
