Painful -- PTSD: Dealing with a rape "properly" depends on the individual -- but if there's no support or care for what s/he's been through, there can be gradual constriction of life and emotion. The person can stay only in a "safe" place, rather than venturing out. Some stop dating completely, if it was a date rape. One can have flashbacks of the experience, poor sleep, hypervigilance, nightmares, and more.
