Yes: Cytotec (misoprostol) is an abortifacient when used in the first trimester and second, and would only be used for termination or delivery of a dead or nonviable fetus. In the third trimester, and in much smaller doses, Cytotec (misoprostol) is used for ripening of the cervix prior to induction of labor. It is associated with more frequent abnormal heart rate tracings, but is generally not dangerous if used judiciously.
