A member asked:

For how long should you wait after getting pink eye to get an eye exam for new glasses?

3 weeks: You may be able to be seen sooner, but why rush this if you are planning on buying new glasses. Sometimes you have to wait longer if the virus affects the cornea.

After you are healed: As a rule of thumb, you are contagious as long as your eye is pink and/or feels irritated. Pink eye is not dangerous, but it is very contagious. If you go to a doctor's office too soon, you may spread the infection to other patients. The natural course of the infection is about 2 weeks, but may take longer in some patients.

Once your eyes feel: Normal (no more tearing, redness, stickiness, discharge), which may be several weeks.
