After you are healed: As a rule of thumb, you are contagious as long as your eye is pink and/or feels irritated. Pink eye is not dangerous, but it is very contagious. If you go to a doctor's office too soon, you may spread the infection to other patients. The natural course of the infection is about 2 weeks, but may take longer in some patients.
