A member asked:

What is a low vitamin d level from?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Living in the dark: Vitamin d is found in some food sources but the major supply is your skin exposure to sun. So it is more commonly deficient in northern climates. It is a common supplement in many foods especially milk. The most serious complication, ricketts, is really rare in the first world but lowered levels are common in many patients and supplementation is common and benign.
