Can bacterial conjunctivitis be spread other than through sexual contact?

Sure: We give them the names "fomites" but any object can spread infection by touch if contaminated. We sometimes see this in households. Be sure to use your own towel and wash your hand thoroughly.

Eye infection spread: True bacterial infection of the eye in adults requires a susceptible host - postsurgical, trauma, chronic inflammation, immunodeficiency. Your eye, when open , is bombarded all the time with bacteria from the air and easily gets rid of them. The exception to this is gonococci but that is really rare in adults.
