A 25-year-old female asked:

can implantation bleeding occur the last day of a period?

Unlikely: Implantation occurs on average 9 days after ovulation and fertilization. It can happen as early as 6 days after ovulation or up to 12 days after ovulation. Your menstrual cycle (period) usually starts 12-14 days after ovulation, if your egg was not fertilized. Thus, if you are menstruating it is usually a sign that you are not pregnant.

Is it possible to have implantation bleeding the day of your expected period I have spotted a light pinkish color and nothing more what could it be?

Bleeding common: Bleeding at any point after ovulation and during the first trimester of pregnancy is very non specific and does not really point to any diagnosis. In our patients, 65% had bleeding early in pregnancy with a low miscarriage rate. We encourage patients not to worry about these intermittent bleeds. If pregnant, an ultrasound can help sort out the situation. Good luck.
