Hypertension: The numbers you quoted here ---- indicate--- hypertensive urgency. Anything can cause this. Ocps, cigarette smoking, renal vascular reasons, hormonal- adrenal hypertension. All possible etiology cal factors need to be ruled out. If stopping contraception pills brings BP down, then that proves your doctor's point.

You can not be sure: Your BP is quite high and it may be a combination of bcp and combination of hypertension if yopur BP was normal before you started the pill than you may stop the pills and use an alternate birth control method.But your BP needs to be monitored and if it does not come down to normal you will need BP meds mranwhile life style modification like salt restriction, execise, stop smoking and weight control.
