Not for donor: A donor of an organ or blood cannot be infected with a prion disease. An organ recipient can become infected with a prion disease if the donor suffered from that disease. For example, until this was recognized and screening initiatted, it was possible to transmit creutzfeld-jacob disease through cornea transplant.
