Local: With deep sedation might work, but i wouldn't recommend it. Your best bet is a light general. If you are in adequately sedated and uncomfortable, then it can be difficult for the surgeon and increase the likelihood of complications.

Not Sure: Undergoing this procedure comfortably with only local anesthesia may be extremely difficult. An epidural anesthetic may be made to extend upward to anesthetize the entire surgical area but local with IV sedation will be a stretch. However, a "light" ga with an lma (airway) and accompanied by IV sedation will allow you to wake up very quickly and comfortably.

It is possible: To try a very deep sedation, but it will be easier to put you to sleep for a light general or give you a spinal. Discuss your concerns with the anesthesiologist that day to come up with the best plan for you.

Discuss with MD: The choices that you are offering are going to make it very difficult to have this operation. There are no local anesthetics that will be able to reach the ureters. I would discuss this with your anesthesiologist and surgeon and see if you can reach a compromise.
