Yes: The syringe size is not the issue, it's the volume of fluid and the needle. The syrine may not be calibrated to small volumes. Better to use 1ml syrine with small calibrations.

Yes: Most subcutaneous injections are less than 1cc so it would be fine to use a 3cc syringe with a 1/2" to 5/8" needle. Have you been trained in proper injection technique? If you have any questions let me know.
