N-acetylcysteine is.: The glutathione precursor n-acetyl-cysteine is class b (i.e. Safe) in pregnancy and lactation. It is administered in cases of tylenol (acetaminophen) poisoning (e.g. Suicide attempt) and reverses the toxic effects on the liver and kidneys reliably. Glutathione per se is not used in clinical practice.
