Hip hip: Most likely symptoms are due to hip bursitis or to tendinitis of muscles connecting to the femur or posterior pelvis. A pinched nerve in lumbar spine can have localized pain this area but is more often associated with back and more widespread leg pain.

Depends: There are a large number of possibilities including neurological, muscular, skeletal, etc. Without knowing more about the issue, i would say the best bet is to see you doctor for an evaluation.
