Varies: Depends on if the surgery was a simple excision, wound sutured closed or left open, or if a rotation skin flap was performed. May take 1-3 weeks to heal. Keep the area clean and dry. Follow the surgeon's instructions if there is wound packing to be changed. Protect from repeated direct trauma such as sitting on a hard bouncing bicycle seat.

Depends on surgery: There are several ways to treat a pilonidal cyst by surgery. First, you can cut it out & suture back up the skin and tissues and that takes about 2 weeks to heal but there is a high recurrence rate. You can cut it open & leave open & change dressings (marsupialization) which can take several weeks but low recurrence or do the last procedure but use a wound vac & about 10 days to heal- no packing.
