No, not from food.: Generally, low iron is caused by bleeding. It's not caused by what you eat. In females, the bleeding is usually menstrual, the period. If you are male, then it is abnormal to have low iron. Some people do lack iron in their diets. Iron is generally found in red meats, but there are also small amounts in some vegetables. Even so, low iron in a male is always considered abnormal.

Agree with Dr. S: If you are a female blood loss in menstrual periods, take iron and multivitamins. If you are a male see a doctor to rule out bleeding in the intestine.
