Happens.: A thin muscular layer surrounding the testicle called the cremaster muscle can cause the testicle to retract upward toward the body. This is part of the temperature regulation of the testis. If the entire testicle cannot be felt, this could be an undescended testicle, usually diagnosed in childhood. This condition should be evaluated by a physician.
