Diet +/- Medication: Unfortunately, as many as 5-10% of people who have their gallbladder removed may develop chronic diarrhea. This is usually secondary to fatty food intake & often responds well to dietary adjustments. If this is unsuccessful, Cholestyramine may be very effective--this is a bile-acid binding resin that rx's the bile acid malabsorption believed to be responsible for post-cholecystectomy diarrhea.

Try cholestyramine: If he diarrhea came after the gallbladder removal, it is unusual but may be caused by bile reaching the colon faster and may be controlled or eliminated by cholestyramine. On the other hand, if the diarrhea is caused by dietary factors, the drug will not solve the problem. Dietary experimentation may be what you need.
