There are : Some theories that state this, others that debate it. Age of child would be a factor as would foot type and genetic factor. I.E does the chile have a flatfoot? Do the parents? Etc...

I like skid socks: Many years ago kids were pushed into stiff shoes that were meant to "help them walk".They certainly subsidized the kid shoe industry but did little for the feet. Today we understand that the feet will form & grow well without such confinement & need only be protected from the terrain they are in. I like the skid proof socks indoors &flexible well fitting shoes outside.

Not necessarily: Depends on what type of floor surface and how much walking is being done. Walking a lot on hard surfaces such as tile is not good.
