A member asked:

Why did all of my children have lucey-driscoll syndrome?

Genes or Steroids: Lucey-driscoll syndrome is a hereditary form of temporary newborn jaundice. It's a recessive disorder, so if both parents are carriers it should happen in about 1/4 of their kids on average (though it could randomly be all the kids). If both parents had the disease, it should happen in all their kids. Sometimes it's passed in other ways & may even be caused by steroids passed on through breastmilk.

Inherited or steroid: The common cause is congenital, but it can also be caused by maternal steroids passed on through breast milk to the newborn. It is different from breast milk jaundice (breast-fed infants have higher bilirubin levels than formula-fed ones). If inherited it is a recessive gene.
