Try cola/ice chips: I find that a a kid can often find comfort sipping a bit of flat cola from a juice glass filled with small ice chips. There is an otc product called emetrol that works on a similar basis, the carbs if the material seem to help. Avoid kaopectate (kaolin and pectin) under 16y.
