Practice: Distance running requires practics runs. Theres lots of good information on the internet, or you could stop by your local high school and talk to the track coach.

Be smart about it.: Be prudent with your training. Take it slow and gradual. Give yourself one or two rest days when you don't run. Eat healthy, with complex carbohydrates and lean proteins. Drink plenty of fluids, especially on training days.
