Treat the hep B: The "e" antigen or hepatitis e is really a superinfection of people who already have hepatitis b. If the hepatitis b can be successfully treated, the e antigen will be reduced along with it. Unfortunately, cure is not common, but the viral load can be reduced and the chance of complications of cirrhosis and liver cancer can be reduced as well.

The hepatitis E virus: Is not at all related to the e antigen of hepatitis b or any of the other causes of human viral hepatitis. Most people recover from the infection although it can be particularly severe during pregnancy. There is rarely chronic infection but there is no specific therapy.
