Fearful: Hypochondriasis is a belief that physical symptoms are signs of a serious illness, despite medical evidence to the contrary. People with this are unable to control their fears and worries -- fearing that any symptom or sensation is a sign of illness. They frequently seek reassurance from family, friends, or health care providers. May feel better briefly, and then begin to worry again.

Agree wi Dr. Pappas: Hypochondria is now called health anxiety disorder. It occurs when a person becomes obsessed with the idea that they have serious medical problems /condition (when there is no diagnosed condition).
