Fearful: Hypochondriasis is a belief that physical symptoms are signs of a serious illness, despite medical evidence to the contrary. People with this are unable to control their fears and worries -- fearing that any symptom or sensation is a sign of illness. They frequently seek reassurance from family, friends, or health care providers. May feel better briefly, and then begin to worry again.
