Dialysis or transpla: Fortunately you can have dialysis or kidney transplant. You should discusss this with a kidney doctor long before it happens. There are many types of dialysis, namely stomach or peritoneal dialysis and blood orhemo dialysis, which can be done at home or in a center.

Your options: Your options for failed kidneys are few. One is to do nothing. However if you do nothing you will die without working kidneys. Therefore the other options are renal transplant or dialysis. Dialysis can either be done through the blood (hemodialysis) or through the abdominal wall (peritoneal dialysis).
