Infection: Potential infection . Transplant patients are very prone to infections, initial small infection may lead to life threatening septicemia, due to immuno suppression. And an unnecessary risk, they do under go needed procedures.

Minimal if done well: Piercing of any part of the body risks the introduction of infection which is much more of a threat to a transplant recipient taking immunosuppression than to a healthy person. However, if simple piercing (not the cartilage) is done under very sterile conditions and kept very clean afterwards, it probably won't be a problem. Think carefully first. Enjoy your new life.
