Silicone gel: Burn scarring can be effectively treated by using a custom compression garment with silicone gel applied to the affected areas. Usually a physician will assess the burned areas and prescribe the garment which requires measurements to be taken so it can be fitted specifically to each individual's needs. If worn regularly for several months, scarring can be significantly improved.
