Rosiglitazone: A second line medication used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus, together with excercise, healthy diet (including weight reduction, if necessary) possibly in conjunction with other medications. Works by increasing body's sensitivity to insulin. Thus, not effective for type 1 diabetes. Needs to be closely monitored by a physician.
