A member asked:

Is coarse / dry hair a medical symptom of anorexia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It can be: Those with anorexia do not have an adequate nutritional intake on a regular basis, often including the correct ratio of needed proteins/amino acids, vitamins, and minerals in their diets. This can lead to changes in hair to including drying, becoming coarse, as well as falling out. There can be many other medical causes of hair changes other than anorexia alone but this can be a medical symptom.
