Why do hormones cause pimples?

Affects acne causes: Acne occurs when skin glands produce more oil, but the openings of the glands are blocked by little plugs of dead skin cells (comedones). Skin oils leak sideways into the skin, causing inflammation that brings in lots of white blood cells, forming a pustule. Hormonal changes might affect how much oil is produced, whether or not comedones form, and how much white blood cell reaction occurs.

Oil: Hormones can overstimulate oil glands and modify the development of skin cells lining the hair follicles of the skin.
