Is poison ivy contagious?

Not really: Poison ivy is not contagious in the sense of an infection like a cold or the flu. But, if someone who is very sensitive to poison ivy touches an open poison ivy lesion, he/she could react.

No: Poison ivy lesions are not contagious. Anything which has touched urushiol from the poison ivy needs to be cleaned. This includes skin, clothes, shoes, gear etc. Touching urushiol can cause spread.
