A member asked:

Can a partial obstruction of the intestines come and go?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Adhesions, generally from prior surgery, can result in partial or complete small bowel obstruction. Partial obstructions resolve with hospitalization for intravenous fluids and not eating for a few days. This can recur. If repeated hospitalizations for partial obstructions, may need surgery. If a complete intestinal obstruction develops, then surgery is likely a necessity.
