Antifungals: Despite the name, its not due to a worm, but due to a fungus that grows in the outer layer of the epidermis that creates an expanding ring of scale and rash. The over the counter antifungal terbinafine is very helpful.

Depends: When these are found on the normal skin surfaces, simple anti-fungal medicines in cream form like tinactin applied 2X a day for a week or so will fix it.If it involves the scalp, these creams will not get to the deep source of the fungus so prescription oral medication is usually needed over a prolonged period (month or more).
