Many causes inc PCOS: Pregnancy or early miscarriage! a one-off late period can be caused by stress or ovarian cysts. Long or irregular cycles can be due to polycystic ovarian sydrome (pcos), also thyroid problems, excess prolactin hormone, aging of the ovary (diminished ovarian reserve), or low hormone levels (hypogonadism) from heavy exercise, eating disorders, or stress. Maybe: Heavy exercise can cause a late period. How long it can be delayed varies from a few days to months. I recommend decreasing the activity, make sure you have increase your body fat. If there is no period after a month you should see your pcp because it can be from other reasons such as thyroid, prolactin, etc.
