Niacin: Niacin in general is coming under increased scrutiny these days following the aim-high trial. It is seldom used as mono therapy so please discuss its role in your lipid treatment with your prescribing physician.

Probably neither...: ...But niacinamide has never been demonstrated to have a beneficial effect while niacin was felt to until studies were released in 2014 showing higher mortality (risk of death) for those on niacin to improve their cholesterol ratios. Niacin is not currently recommended unless other, safer treatments have been tried and failed.
