No: This is a very commonly given piece of advise. Keeping the eyelid margin clean can help various eye problems like styes, blepharitis, dry eyes and allergies. Baby shampoo is often recommended as it is less likely to cause stinging if it gets into the eyes than most types of soap.

Lid scrubs: It is ok to use the j&j baby shampoo but i typically recommend patients to use over-the-counter ocusoft plus scrubs instead. This product is more effective and much gentler to the eyelids.
