Yeast?: Often this is caused by a yeast infection. There are several over-the-counter treatments such as monistat. However, if this does not work, see your doctor and have an exam. In post-menopausal women, sometimes a lack of estrogen can cause thinning of the vaginal walls, which can also cause irritation.
