YES!: A colonoscopy is a safe, thorough examination of your entire colon under sedation to screen for polyps, or to diagnose bleeding issues or other colon abnormalities such as diverticulosis or hemorrhoids. Small growths like polyps rarely cause symptoms until they grow larger, and can lead to colorectal cancer. You should be screened at least at age 50 or sooner if you have any rectal bleeding.
